Election 2026: 20 candidates drop out of Alaska races as withdrawal deadline hits

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - A total of 20 candidates and some running mates dropped out before Monday’s 5 p.m. deadline hit, leaving Alaska’s election field in a mix. This month’s state primary results were certified Monday, advancing up to four candidates in each race to the November general election, which will use ranked-choice voting. According to the Division of Elections, Candice English had picked up Jodi Taylor as her running mate before Monday’s withdrawal deadline.
