ANCHORAGE, Alaska ( KTUU /Gray News) - A fin whale was found dead Thursday morning on the bow of a cruise ship in Alaska, according to authorities. The carcass was found on the bow of the Norwegian Joy, operated by Norwegian Cruise Line. The official cause of death has not been released. According to a statement released by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Friday, the whale was a 57.5-foot adult male.
