Fairfield fifth grade football player competing to be Youth Athlete of the Year
WLWT reports: Josie Stamper, an 11-year-old football player from Fairfield Elementary, is breaking barriers as the only girl on her team and competing for Youth Athlete of the Year. "She proved real, real quickly that she belonged here," Doug Meddings, head coach of the team, said. Josie began playing football at the age of six and has faced challenges along the way. "They didn't think I could play, they all wanted my spot," Josie said. "I had to push harder." Her hard work has paid off, as she is now in the quarterfinals of the Youth Athlete of the Year contest, where the winner will receive $25,000.
