The family of a high school girl killed in a high-speed crash earlier this year has set up a 5K race team to honor her close to what would have been her 18th birthday. Family and friends of Karla Gamero will participate in the Fall Harvest 5K being held Oct. 11 in Cranford under the team name Karla’s Warriors. The 17-year-old Edison High School student died in a high-speed crash in February on Route 1 in Woodbridge. The driver of the vehicle Gamero was a passenger in, Mikael Salman, 19, has been charged with aggravated manslaughter while eluding, vehicular homicide, multiple counts of aggravated assault and various other crimes.
