LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The family of a 65-year-old woman who died after an ambulance crash in late 2025 is suing the Pleasure Ridge Park Fire Protection District for negligence, wrongful death and more. Karen Sue Simpson was being transported by a PRP ambulance on Nov. 17, 2025 for shortness of breath. Simpson, who had ALS, was in stable condition when the ambulance was called and did not need oxygen, the lawsuit said. While being driven to Mary and Elizabeth Hospital in southwest Louisville, the ambulance crashed into a tree at the intersection of Gagel Avenue and Estate Drive.
