Feds will examine 72 hours leading up to Carlisle plane crash that killed pilot, injured police

Federal investigators are headed to Cumberland County where they plan to document the wreckages of a private plane and a state police helicopter after a fatal crash Wednesday night at the Carlisle Airport. Two National Transportation Safety Board investigators are traveling to the crash site, NTSB spokesperson Peter Knudson said in an emailed statement. After the wreckage is documented, it will be moved to a secure facility for further examination, according to Knudson. A preliminary report with information gathered during the beginning of the investigation is expected within 30 days. A final report, which will detail a probable cause of the crash, is expected in one to two years.
