Field Hockey Roundup: Elite goalkeeping leads Agawam, Belchertown to draw

MassLive is back with a list of seven high school gymnasts poised to put together standout seasons this fall. With the season getting underway Thursday, here’s a look at seven competitors to watch and what makes each one a potential standout. The sophomore enters the season on a new team after establishing herself as one of Agawam’s top gymnasts a year ago. Altobelli finished first on bars at the Western Mass. championship with a score of 9.2 and added a third-place finish in the floor exercise with a 9.35. That was just the beginning. Altobelli also placed in four of the five events, finishing fourth on beam with an 8.75 and fourth in the all-around with a 35.3. After consistently finishing near the top of the standings in multiple events for the Brownies last season, Altobelli gives Minnechaug another proven performer as it looks to contend for a top finish at this year’s championship. Comee enters the season as one of the Western Mass. gymnasts on the rise. With Agawam losing three of its top-scoring all-around gymnasts to graduation or transfers, Comee will take on a larger role for the Brownies. Under head coach Jessica Hansen, who has 15 years of coaching experience at Agawam, Comee recorded her best finish of the 2025 season at the Western Mass. championship, placing fifth on vault with a score of 9.05.
