A family member confirmed to KOCO 5 the identity of a Wellston firefighter who died after being critically injured during a wildfire Monday in Lincoln County. The firefighter has been identified as Joe Flake. Below is what we know about the incident. Authorities told KOCO 5 that the fire started in an outbuilding on a property near 820 Road and 3330 Road, spreading to a house and burning around 260 acres of land. No one was home when the fire started.

While battling the fire, Lincoln County Emergency Management officials said they "experienced an incident within an incident with a mayday call broadcast." A firefighter experienced a medical emergency and was taken to the hospital.
