The Getty Fire was reported at about 4:15 p.m. near Getty Center Drive, north of the Getty Center in the Brentwood area. A visible plume of smoke rose over the surrounding area. Multiple water-dropping helicopters were dispatched to the scene to help douse the flames. About two hours later, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported that crews had stopped the fire's forward progress at approximately 25 acres.
