Questions remain over whether pilot inaction led to Sunday’s deadly Amazon cargo plane crash , including a potential failure to do a go-around ― aborting the landing and trying again ― before the plane overshot the runway at Miami International Airport. On Friday, Local 10 News got a look at what goes into a go-around. Reporter Jeff Derderian went up with pilot Dao Chen, the co-owner of Dynasty Aviation at North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines. It becomes too late to do a go-around, Chen said, “when you touch down beyond where the airplane is supposed to touch down.” The Amazon cargo plane crew, employed by 21 Air, appears to have not done a go-around and then overshot the runway. Excessive landing speed was perhaps also a factor. “And you’re thinking about a go-around well before you get near the airport?” Dederian asked Chen.
