Anderson was indicted on murder and reckless homicide charges in connection with Lewis' death in 2023. He originally pleaded not guilty to both charges, but changed his plea to guilty for the reckless homicide charge. The state will no longer pursue the murder charge.

According to the coroner’s report, Lewis died within minutes of being shot. He was taken to Grant Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
