Former NBA player, college basketball star dies at 74

Former NBA forward Cornelius Cash, who starred at Bowling Green before beginning his pro basketball career, has died. 31, according to a release from Bowling Green. “We mourn the passing of BGSU Hall of Famer Cornelius Cash,” Bowling Green Athletics said on Facebook. “A BGSU graduate in 1975, Cash was a three-time All-MAC player and one of three Falcons in program history to have 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in their career.” Cash played at Bowling Green from 1972 to 1975, averaging 15.8 points and 13.5 rebounds per game for his career. He was the top-rebounding forward in the nation during the 1972-73 season, averaging 15.2 boards per game. Cash was also named the Bowling Green team MVP following that season. During his junior year, Cash averaged 13.6 points and 12.4 rebounds per game before averaging 15.3 points and 13.0 rebounds as a senior.
