Former treasurer accused of misusing thousands from Pewaukee youth wrestling club
The former treasurer of the Pewaukee Youth Wrestling Club is facing a felony charge after police said she spent thousands of dollars in club funds on personal expenses, including nail appointments, tanning, gas and restaurant dining. Sonnenberg began serving as the club’s treasurer in 2018 or 2019, according to a criminal complaint. Investigators determined the club received approximately $120,477 during her tenure. Club-related expenses totaled about $72,726, which should have left a balance of more than $47,000. Sonnenberg allegedly told one of the organization’s co-directors that she closed the account with a balance of approximately $7,000.
