Fourth arrest made in 2024 mass shooting that killed 4, injured 17 in Birmingham's Five Points South

A fourth person has been arrested in connection with the 2024 mass shooting in Birmingham's Five Points South neighborhood that killed four people and injured more than a dozen. Birmingham police said Aaron Jones-Turpin was taken into custody Friday and charged with capital murder and 17 counts of first-degree assault in the incident at the now-closed Hush Lounge that left four people dead and 17 injured on Saturday, Sept. Birmingham police said its Violent Crime Apprehension Team found Jones-Turpin in the area of Brown Street in Fyffe, which is in DeKalb County. Birmingham police Chief Michael Pickett released a statement following the arrest that said in part: "This was a devastating moment for our city," Pickett said.
