Getty Fire scorches 25 acres near 405 Freeway as mop-up operations continue

Firefighters in Los Angeles continue mop-up and containment operations on Thursday following a 25-acre brush fire that broke out near the southbound 405 Freeway in the Brentwood area. The fire prompted brief evacuation warnings and early closures at the nearby Getty Center museum, but crews successfully stopped its progress without any reported injuries or structural damage.The brush fire was initially reported around 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday on the hillside near Getty Center Drive, just north of the Getty Center museum. Elevated heat levels reaching up to 108 degrees alongside high humidity from the remnants of Hurricane Marie created extreme conditions in the area. Multiple water-dropping helicopters were dispatched to douse the flames, helping crews stop the fire's forward progress just after 6:10 p.m.The Los Angeles Fire Department issued evacuation warnings for nearby areas, but no structures were immediately threatened, and all warnings were lifted by 8:40 p.m. Wednesday.The cause of the fire is unknown.
