Girls Volleyball Roundup: Tyanna Lepicier leads Mount Greylock past Pittsfield

SUDBURY – The Needham football team will enter their toughest test of the season winless. Despite taking the lead in the second half, Needham (0-2) couldn’t finish the job, as they lost 12-7 to the Lincoln-Sudbury Warriors (1-1) on Friday at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. “I think they (Needham players) were inspired,” Needham head coach Doug Kopcso said. “They worked really hard. There are some things we’ve got to clean up from a penalty standpoint, but putting that aside for the moment, I was really impressed by the effort, and the way they fought together.” Both teams moved the ball on their opening drive of the game, taking up nearly the entire quarter, but neither team could finish their drive. A sack from Needham defensive lineman Thomas LaHaise ended Lincoln-Sudbury’s opening drive. And despite picking up one first down, the Rockets’ drive stalled. As a result, it remained scoreless after one quarter. It was the same story early in the second quarter. The Warriors’ drive then stalled as Needham forced a turnover on downs, and a quick Rockets three-and-out gave the ball back to Lincoln-Sudbury. Needham was unable to get a third stop, as Warriors quarterback Jamie Champa led his team down the field and capped off the drive by running for a 13-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter to put Lincoln-Sudbury up 6-0 at the half after a failed extra-point attempt.
