Grandmother asks ‘why’ after shooting at Sanford memorial

A memorial gathering in Sanford honoring 18-year-old Zi’Erric Wynn turned into a scene of panic Saturday night when gunfire erupted, according to Sanford Police. Wynn’s grandmother, Shirley Wynn, said family and friends have gathered for the past six years near a park on 10th Street to remember him. Zi’Erric Wynn was a senior at Seminole High when he died in a crash six years ago this week, she said. “Why?. That’s the only thing I think all of us want to know,” Shirley Wynn told News 6. “Why did you come to our celebration and destroy it?” Zi’Erric’s grandmother says this year’s gathering turned into everything her grandson was not about.
