Grandmother dies at hospital after Acton pond incident that killed toddler

A 75-year-old Acton woman who was pulled from an Acton pond on Friday has died following a drowning incident that left her 1-year-old grandson dead , the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office confirmed. First responders were called to the incident at NARA Park around 1:35 p.m. by a 911 caller who reported a possible drowning, prosecutors said previously. The preliminary investigation suggests the grandmother and her three grandchildren were visiting the park, but had not planned to swim in the park’s pond, according to prosecutors. At some point during the visit, the grandmother and 1-year-old, who was the youngest of the children, went into the water. The other children called for help, and lifeguards and bystanders immediately responded, prosecutors said.
