Greensboro City Manager Trey Davis releases public safety statement after fatal shooting downtown: ‘People throughout Greensboro should know that their safety matters’

(WGHP) The City of Greensboro released a public safety statement after a fatal shooting downtown on Sunday. “Over the past several weeks, our community has experienced serious acts of violence,” Greensboro City Manager Trey Davis said on Monday. “They have left victims and families dealing with pain and trauma, and they have understandably created fear and concern among residents across Greensboro.” Davis said he is working with Greensboro Police Chief Kamran Afzal on short-term and long-term responses to the recent violence in the city. “We are not creating another permanent unit or adding another layer of bureaucracy. And when residents have information about violent activity or illegal firearms, we need them to share that information with law enforcement.” The statement comes after a fatal officer-involved shooting downtown on Sunday evening. Police responded to a call of a man pulling a gun on a woman.
