The shooting was reported at 11:13 p.m. on June 14 in the 1900 block of Ashby Avenue, according to the Berkeley Police Department. Officers arrived to find the victim — identified as a 19-year-old woman — suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. Police said the victim was taken to an area hospital and is continuing to recover from her injuries. The shooting stemmed from an encounter between the suspect and the victim at the victim’s residence in the 2900 block of Adeline Street, police said, adding that the suspect shot the victim outside the home when she tried to get in her car and leave. The suspect then went through the victim’s car and stole cash, according to police.
