He survived the Buford's shooting and graduated college. Now, Rudy Garza is finding his new normal

Rodolfo “Rudy” Garza Jr. spent four months in and out of the hospital after he was shot in the head in the mass shooting at Buford’s. Now, he's finally returned home. Garza was studying mechanical engineering at the University of Texas at Austin and was two months shy of graduating when he was shot on March 1 while celebrating two friends’ birthdays. After months of intensive care and multiple surgeries, Garza is trying to regain a sense of normalcy through rehabilitation and therapy. Garza was one of 14 people injured in the shooting on West Sixth Street that left three people dead.
