Henrico pair charged after 5 dogs found dead in parking lot
HENRICO, Va. (WWBT) - A Henrico County man and woman are facing 40 charges in connection with animal cruelty. On September 17, Henrico Police arrested Deric Rashawn Beale, 41, and Barbara Frances Jones, 53, both of Henrico, in connection with the death of five dogs. Ashley Robertson said the investigation started from a tip over the summer. “On June 10th, we got a call from a member of the community,” said Capt. This call led Henrico Police to Monahan Road in the Varina area, where they found five dogs decomposing in a parking lot. “We went and collected them and necropsies were performed and they determined that they died as a result of environmental factors, which would include heat,” said Capt. Henrico Police said the dogs, who all appeared to be pit bull mixes, didn’t have any external injuries.
