Homicide investigation underway after fatal shooting at Broadway apartments in downtown Nashville. Here’s what we know

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened on Labor Day in downtown Nashville. Homicide investigators responded to a shooting at the parking garage connected to 1200 Broadway Apartments shortly after 9 a.m., according to Metro Nashville Police. Police confirmed at about 12:30 p.m. that a man was fatally shot in the exchange of gunfire, and authorities are working to determine his identity. The update comes a few hours after residents of the complex told WSMV4 a shooting happened at the building. The apartment complex said in an email to residents that police are investigating an “isolated incident” that happened on the building’s fifth floor. “We do not have any details at this time, but the P5 pet park, elevator lobby and parking near these areas will not be accessible for a few hours,” the message said.
