Lowell was about 625 miles southwest of Lihue and 610 miles southwest of Honolulu at 11 p.m., with maximum sustained winds of 155 mph. The hurricane was moving west at about 7 mph. Lowell is expected to continue westward through Saturday before making a sharp turn north or north-northeast Sunday.
