Hurricane Middle School project scaling back

PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Ground has been broken on the new Hurricane Middle School. We learned on Monday night, however, that Putnam County school leaders are scaling back plans for the school after the superintendent said the project is running over budget. The announcement came during Monday night’s Board of Education meeting. Superintendent Bruce McGrew said cost-cutting measures will likely reduce the building’s overall footprint, but the district said the school will still be able to handle student growth. “Well, we chose the CMAR process, construction manager at risk,” McGrew said. “So, there’s some negotiations that go on.
