HAWAII COUNTY, Hawaii (Island News) -- Residents on the Big Island are being advised to prepare for severe weather that could come from Tropical Storm Lala starting Friday, lasting throughout the weekend. As a Hurricane Warning was issued for the Big Island ahead of Tropical Storm Lala, hurricane force winds are possible for starting late Friday night, Aug. The warning was issued by the National Weather Service at 4:49 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, which could impact Kailua-Kona, Captain Cook and Milolii within the next 36 hours. The Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency said Lala poses a real threat of impacting the island.
