Boise County officials killed a mountain lion Wednesday after the animal was found preying on chickens while in a populated area of Horseshoe Bend, according to a social media post from the Boise County Sheriff’s Office. The post said sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a mountain lion inside city limits around 2:15 p.m. Wednesday and found the animal feeding on chickens on a private property near a daycare and school. Officials said in the post that it was “apparent” that the mountain lion was injured, and Boise County Sheriff Scott Turner told the Idaho Statesman the animal had an injured foot. According to the sheriff’s office, deputies killed the mountain lion because of the injury, the animal’s proximity to locations frequented by children and its presence in a populated area.
