Inspector General releases footage, investigation details of Bridgeport shooting involving police

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The Office of the Inspector General has released police body camera video and information from a preliminary investigation regarding gunfire exchange involving a Bridgeport police officer while responding to a call overnight Wednesday. Bridgeport police were called to the 600 block of Grand Street around midnight Wednesday for a report of a fight in the street. Arriving officers tried to speak to Robert Martins, 53, who then went into a side door of a multi-family home in the neighborhood. Two officers tried to detain him. Officer Christopher Robinson tried to tase Martins, but the Taser deployment was not successful, the IG said.
