Iowa State Patrol trooper injured in shooting released from hospital

An Iowa State Patrol trooper who was injured while responding to a deadly shooting has been released from the hospital. The Iowa State Patrol announced Trooper Chase Carruthers was released Friday to continue recovering at home. "The Iowa State Patrol and Trooper Chase Carruthers’ family would like to thank everyone for the tremendous love, prayers, and support shown to Trooper Carruthers, his family, and the Iowa State Patrol," Iowa State Patrol announced. Austin Nichols Reed, 46, of Stuart, is charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder of a police officer for his role in the shooting.
