In court documents obtained by KCCI, officers claim Hatfield called into Polk County Dispatch stating she was "going to kill" the victim and hung up. Officers arrived at the scene in Ankeny to find Hatfield "brandishing a knife and stabbing the victim in the left breast." The victim was found with multiple lacerations and a puncture wound on her chest, according to police. A witness at the scene told police she saw Hatfield stab and attempt to stab the victim, and Hatfield later admitted to stabbing the victim, according to court documents.
