It’s safe to say that there has never been a Red Sox manager like Joe Morgan. Like every other manager in franchise history from 1921 through 2003, Morgan was unable to lead the team to a World Series title. But his legacy remains secure. From the time he took over at the 1988 All-Star break until his firing days after the conclusion of the 1991 season, Morgan left his mark in indelible fashion. Believed to be one of only two Massachusetts-born managers in club history, Morgan passed away Saturday night at the age of 95.
