ICE has not responded to questions about the sequence of events. — Tony Plohetski, investigative reporter Ascension, which owns Dell Seton Medical Center, said Tuesday that hospital staff followed standard procedures for interactions with law enforcement while treating Wilber Rafael Garcés Pérez. “We are committed to providing safe, compassionate care to all those who enter our doors,” Ascension said in a statement. “We have established procedures and policies related to interactions with law enforcement, which are the same regardless of agency—federal, state or local—that were strictly followed in this case.” Ascension also said its policies governing the disclosure of health information are intended to comply with legal requirements while protecting patients' privacy and rights.
