Juvenile sought in April Asheville shooting turns themselves in, police say

A juvenile wanted in connection with an April shooting in Asheville that left one person injured has turned themselves in, the Asheville Police Department announced on Sept. The 16-year-old was served with open warrants and APD said it's working with the Department of Juvenile Justice to continue investigating the incident. On April 26, Asheville police responded to a home on Atkinson Street to investigate a report of a gunshot wound victim, per a previous APD news release. Before officers arrived, they learned that the victim was already taken to Mission Hospital but survived. Earlier this week, News 13 reported that APD was searching for the juvenile possibly involved in the Atkinson Street shooting.
