Kansas City, Missouri, police involved in shooting near 34th, Gillham

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating a shooting involving Kansas City, Missouri, police officers.According to MSHP, at around 3:25 a.m. Sunday, two KCPD officers stopped a red Toyota pickup for traffic violations near 34th and Gillham Road.Investigators say the officers suspected the female driver was intoxicated. As they approached the truck, they say the driver put it in reverse, drove back toward the officers and hit their patrol vehicle.That’s when both officers fired their weapons at the truck. The driver then took off, and officers pursued her.MSHP says she was stopped a short time later near 33rd and Holmes. They discovered she had suffered a gunshot wound.She was taken to a local hospital, where she remains in stable condition and is currently in custody.Neither officer involved in Sunday's incident was injured, according to MSHP.The Highway Patrol says this is preliminary information.
