The Kansas City Police Department is investigating a homicide after a shooting near a park Friday afternoon. Officers were called to the area of Ninth Street and Denver Avenue around 3:20 p.m. Friday on reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they were directed to a yard behind a home, just south of an intersection, where a man was found unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers rendered aid until EMS crews arrived, but the victim was declared deceased.
