Knife-wielding patient shot multiple times by security at Texas hospital, police say

At least 3 security guards tried to talk the patient into putting the knife down HOUSTON -- A knife-wielding patient in the emergency room of a hospital was shot multiple times after struggling with security guards, according to the Houston Police Department. HPD said it happened at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center on Saturday night. According to HPD, a man in his early 30s experiencing a mental health crisis was admitted to the hospital and taken to a secluded room in the back of the emergency room at around 6 p.m. Shortly before 9 p.m., HPD said the man presented a knife and refused to put it down, according to hospital security. HPD said that at least three security guards tried to talk the patient into putting the knife down, but that he refused.
