Kroger settles lawsuit filed by family of Clermont County employee who died by suicide

CINCINNATI (WKRC) — Kroger has reached a settlement in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of a longtime employee who died by suicide after alleging he was subjected to workplace harassment. The family of Evan Seyfried, a 19-year Kroger employee, filed the lawsuit in 2021 against the company and two employees. According to the complaint, a manager at Kroger's Milford store launched a campaign against Seyfried in late 2020 because of his political views and his decision to wear a face mask. The lawsuit alleged Seyfried was harassed, followed home, received threatening text messages and was sent child pornography. The family claimed the alleged hazing, bullying and threatening behavior forced Seyfried to step down from his position in February 2021 and transfer to another store before ultimately contributing to his death.
