LaPorte County, Indiana manhunt: Suspect found dead, another in custody after shots fired at Indiana State Police trooper

LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind. (WLS) -- Police had been searching for an "armed and dangerous" suspect after shots were fired at a state police trooper Friday in Northwest Indiana, officials said. A suspect was later found dead and another person was taken into custody. Around 3:15 p.m., an Indiana State Trooper responded to C.R. 125 E., south of C.R. 900 N. in rural LaPorte County for two individuals who were reportedly "described as acting suspicious," officials said. "The trooper located the pair, a male and a female, and began speaking with them," Indiana State Police officials said in an update. "During the interaction, the trooper asked the male for identification.
