LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. (KCTV) - A Lee’s Summit man who sparked an Amber Alert on Monday has now been charged in Jackson County. Prosecutor Melesa Johnson announced Wednesday that 37-year-old Justin A. Smith has been charged with one count of parental kidnapping and one count of first-degree harassment. According to court documents, Smith removed his 9-month-old child from the home he shares with the child’s mother on Aug. An Amber Alert was issued Monday, because Smith is the non-custodial biological parent, court documents say.
