Lindsay Clancy told family she had thoughts of harming children before killings, mother testifies

PLYMOUTH — Lindsay Clancy told family she was having thoughts of harming her children in December 2022, just a month before she strangled the three young children and attempted to take her own life, her mother testified Monday. Clancy’s mother, Paula Musgrove, was the third witness called by her defense Monday afternoon. The early portion of the defense case appeared aimed at shaping how the jury perceives Clancy, defining her as a devoted mother and nurse whose children were her entire world — not the controlling, manipulative woman prosecutors have described. The defense’s case began Monday afternoon after prosecutors rested their case-in-chief following the testimony of their 71st witness. On the stand, Musgrove got choked up when defense attorney Kevin Reddington asked her about her grandchildren. “I loved my grandchildren with all my heart,” she said, letting out a heavy sigh. “You never know what it’s like to love your grandchild until you become a grandmother.” Clancy was a “very loving mother” to the kids, she recalled.
