Local View: Election doubts threaten democracy

Lincoln Journal Star reports: Despite the total absence of any evidence of widespread election fraud sufficient to change the outcome of the 2020 election, President Donald Trump and some of his supporters continue to assert that fraud was responsible for his defeat. These claims have repeatedly failed to withstand scrutiny in court, yet they continue to undermine public confidence in our elections. It is telling that these concerns about election integrity are rarely raised when President Trump or candidates who support him prevail, including in the presidential elections of 2016 and 2024.
