Los Lunas man arrested for crash that killed an Arizona family

HEBER, Ariz. — Authorities arrested a Los Lunas man who allegedly admitted to falling asleep and causing a crash that killed a young family of four in Arizona. Jesse David Lovato, 21, faces charges for the crash on Arizona State Route 260, about four miles west of Heber. Around 12:31 p.m., his eastbound GMC pickup truck crashed into a westbound Nissan sedan – killing the four family members in the sedan: Giovanni Huerta and his wife, Kiah – each 26 years old – and their two children: a 4-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl. Authorities learned Lovato was on his way back from Phoenix when the crash happened. He allegedly said he fell asleep while driving and woke up when the crash happened and his truck rolled over.
