LSU responds to ruling allowing former NFL players on roster

LSU President Wade Rousse issued a statement Friday after an East Baton Rouge Parish judge issued a preliminary injunction Thursday allowing former professional athletes to be included on LSU’s football roster. “LSU respects the judicial process and the court’s decision,” Rousse said. “Our responsibility is to support our programs while complying with the law and the rules governing our conference.” Rousse said LSU will review the court’s order and continue working with the Southeastern Conference and NCAA. The ruling came after a legal battle over the eligibility of former NFL players Dae’Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris, who joined LSU after spending time in NFL training camps this summer. The NCAA had challenged their eligibility after LSU sought to include them on its roster. The SEC also filed a lawsuit against LSU and coach Lane Kiffin, arguing that adding former professional athletes violated conference rules and governance.
