Cal Fire began battling the Lucas Fire shortly after 9 a.m. 10, as it spread through grass and oak, growing from 10 acres to 400 acres by 4 p.m. The cause of the fire was under investigation Thursday afternoon, but Cal Fire confirmed lightning was recorded in the area in the morning. The fire jumped containment lines established early in the fight, and quickly grew due to strong winds, according to Cal Fire spokesperson Sherri Wise. In response, Cal Fire ordered more units to battle the blaze. “We’re throwing the world at it,” Wise said Thursday afternoon.
