Posted: Aug 31, 2026 / 04:58 PM PDT Updated: Aug 31, 2026 / 11:14 PM PDT LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Las Vegas Metropolitan police identified the armed suspect involved in a shooting that occurred in the parking lot of CSN-Charleston near West Charleston Boulevard, near Torrey Pines Drive, on Aug. Metro police identified the suspect as Catalina Alvarado, 26; she faces charges of assault on a protected person with a deadly weapon, resisting with a deadly weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon on school property, and two counts of injuring or tampering with a motor vehicle. Dori Koren, Assistant Sheriff of LVMPD, revealed that shortly after 5:15 am, Officer Delylah Donegan and another LVMPD officer were parked near the 6300 block of West Charleston Boulevard. The officers were on a brief lunch break when the suspect, Alvarado, approached them armed with a knife. Alvarado approached the front of the vehicle and started yelling and banging on the patrol vehicle with her knife.

According to Sheriff Doren, the probes of the taser did strike the suspect’s clothing but were ultimately ineffective. The officers then took Alvarado into custody and began rendering aid.
