Nonprofit, nonpartisan news about Wisconsin Madison police arrested at least seven people early Tuesday morning as officials moved to clear out the encampment at the site of a July 22 police shooting . Ten people have been cited, according to a Madison police spokesperson. One man on the site, Samuel Brooks of Portage, told a WPR reporter he had been arrested and released in the operation. Brooks, a former resident of the neighborhood, said he had been there daily to participate in protests. He said city officials arrived in the predawn hours to ask the people occupying the encampment site at Williamson and Baldwin streets to leave.
