Man apparently shot himself while barricaded in Miami high-rise, cops say

A man was hospitalized after he apparently shot himself while barricaded in a Miami high-rise Monday morning, police said. Officers had responded to the Aria Reserve near Northeast 7th Avenue and 24th Street in Edgewater around 7:30 a.m. after a man barricaded himself inside a unit where gunfire heard, Miami Police officials said. SWAT and fire rescue crews responded along with negotiators as a second person was inside the apartment with the man. He was later taken into custody and it appeared he'd suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
