Man arrested after threat prompts evacuation of Oswego County social services building

Oswego, N.Y. —A Volney man was arrested after a threat forced the evacuation of the Oswego County Department of Social Services building on Wednesday. Edward Browning, 29, was charged with making a terroristic threat, according to the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded to the DSS offices at 100 Spring St. in the town of Mexico at approximately 11:19 a.m. after receiving a report of a threat. All employees and visitors were evacuated as a precaution, and staff members were sent home. Law enforcement conducted a thorough search of the building and determined the threat was not credible.
