Man arrested in connection with shooting at vehicle in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Police say a man arrested in connection with an August shooting in Virginia Beach was captured with the help of automated license plate reader technology. Detectives with the Virginia Beach Police Department's Third Precinct Crime Suppression Squad announced an arrest in a shooting that occurred on Aug. 24 in the 5700 block of Northampton Boulevard. Police say the victim in the shooting was not struck by gunfire, but the suspect allegedly shot toward the person. During the investigation, detectives used Flock automated license plate reader technology to capture an image of a license plate of a vehicle that fled the scene immediately after the shooting, leading them to identify the suspect.
