Darrell Long described himself as a “hero” for shooting his ex-wife in 2025 because he said “women need to be taught a lesson,” according to the Lebanon County district attorney. The 63-year-old will now likely spend decades behind bars after being convicted Tuesday of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, burglary and harassment. Lebanon County Regional Police charged Long in March 2025 after he broke into his ex-wife’s home in the 1700 Block of North Seventh Street in North Lebanon Township, beat her and shot her limb by limb as she tried to fight him off, according to police. After his arrest, Long admitted to pistol-whipping the woman with the butt of a .22-caliber pistol before shooting her five times, police said.
